A Brazilian advertising executive, Alexandre Gama remembers when Brazil was not recognized as an advertising hotbed. He helped change all that when he left his position as a Creative Director and started his own agency and named it Neogama. This turned out to be a great decision, as Neogama was immediately recognized in the industry by winning a Golden Lion at the Cannes Film Festival. Gama’s firm would go on to win another 22 Golden Lions.
Success did not always follow Gama around, as he spent the first decade of his career working as a copywriter for Standard Ogilvy & Mather. Perseverance paid off however, as Gama was eventually recognized for his hard work in 1990 as he was hired as a Creative Director at DM9. After moving onto a position as CEO/COO of Young & Rubicam, Gama decided to venture out on his own, starting Neogama in 1999.
