The Visionary Quest of JHSF and Jose Auriemo Neto

JHSF Participações S.A. is the current leader in Brazilian high-end real estate, specializing in residential, shopping center, hotel, and airport projects. It first began business in 1972 with a concentration in the construction sector. At that time it was known only as JHS. The founding brothers, Fabio and Jose Auriemo, after a few years, divided the company into two with each of the brothers leading a company. Jose was charged with the one that continued in the construction industry, Fabio took control of JHSF which concentrated in a high-end real estate.

It has grown massively through the years and today has offices in Sao Paul, Salvador, and Manaus in Brazil; Punta del Este in Uruguay; and Miami and New York in the U.S. Early last decade, Fabio Auriemo’s son, Jose Auriemo Neto, began encouraging his father to take JHSF into the luxury retail sector. It was a hard sell. For several years Fabio rejected the idea but eventually, Jose won him over. And when he did, he allowed Jose to pave the way. It cost the company a whole lot. The cost for just relocating families who lived on desired properties was huge.

He did such a great job that he was made CEO of the company after his father retired. He has since also led JHSF to buy both the Fasano hotel and restaurant chains. When the company engages in international projects, Auriemo often moves his family to that location and lives there in order to supervise the entire developing process.
